Paul Hutchings is the founder of P.T. Kraken Subsea Fishing and builder of Kraken Spearguns.  Paul was one of the original pioneers who started commercial diving in Tasmania Australia in 1984. Harvesting abalone, sea urchins and kelp, Pauls love for the ocean was evident at a very early age and one that has spanned over 4 decades. In 1994 Paul became a commercial saturation diver traveling and diving around the globe. He has been working as a commercial diver in Asia and the Middle East for over 10 years before finally ending up with a permanent position as a saturation diver in the North Sea in 2004.  For the past 20 years Paul has continued his passion of commercial saturation diving in the North Sea and has honed his skills as a premier diver and a valuable engineer. Designing many complex fixtures to assist with a multitude of underwater tasks his tenacity and resolve to understand the principle of design is second to none. In 2008 Paul started Blue Water Spearfishing and he quickly saw the need to design a better speargun. He was after a design that was both powerful and accurate but also in a shorter overall length to accommodate international traveling.  His mind would not stop until he designed a gun that would accomplish those three important attributes.  He tested and studied many different styles of spearguns before finally choosing a Double Roller design with the versatility of using 2 bands or 4 bands. This way the diver could add or subtract power depending on the species they were hunting. Paul has since retired from commercial saturation diving and is now concentrating on his business. He overseas the building and testing of each gun to ensure the highest degree of craftsmanship is maintained and present in every gun built.
