A life spent underwater

Founded by Paul Hutchings, one of Tasmania’s original commercial divers and a pioneer in modern spearfishing exploration, the brand is shaped by over four decades spent underwater.

Paul has explored and hunted some of the most remote and demanding waters of the Ring of Fire and beyond, targeting powerful pelagic fish where equipment must perform without failure.

Built on Deep Technical Knowledge

That experience is matched by an exceptional depth of technical knowledge. Paul understands every element of a speargun - from timber selection and resins to carbon reinforcement, structure, and recoil management - and applies that knowledge directly by building and testing each design himself.

Artisanal Craftmanship

Kraken spearguns are built by master woodworkers in Indonesia, whose knowledge of working with wood has been passed down through many generations.

They are made from the highest-quality teak available, reclaimed from traditional Joglo houses, ancestral Javanese homes known for their durability.

Built to Last a Lifetime

Each Kraken speargun is built through an extremely labor-intensive process. Every piece is individually weighted, assembled, and tested to ensure it performs exactly as intended.

Because of this, no two spearguns are the same. Each Kraken is a unique blend of artisanal craft and precision engineering, built to be used, trusted, and owned for a lifetime.

Used on the World’s Biggest Fish

Kraken spearguns have been tested by some of the best spearfishers in the world in demanding blue-water conditions. Over the years, they have been used to land many of the largest fish in modern spearfishing, including giant dogtooth tuna, marlin, sailfish, and other powerful pelagics.

That real-world experience continues to shape every Kraken speargun.
